Two Women at a Window
A juxtaposition of a baroque painting (Two Women at a Window, 1660) by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo with a photo I clicked in 2018.
The fellow outsiders I encounter in these places seem closer to offering the true community I crave. In their sad faces, melancholic smiles, and grief-stricken eyes, I recognize the most sincere, bruised bits of myself. They seem unable to accommodate their characters within the strictures of the ordinary world, outcasts and, in their own way, visionaries.
